There
are two broad qualities based on the embroidery
yarn used to stitch design on it.
2
ply (Double ply)
This
is fine quality 2 fold wool twisted yarn, with
little sheen on it. As it is very fine, it makes
about 60% more stitches to cover same amount
of work as the other quality. It also gives
room for more colors to be used to create shade
effect.
Overall it gives sharp optical image to embroidery.
This work is done on duck fabric. For The same
pattern the price of this quality is more than
1 ply.
1
ply (Single ply)
This
is traditional crewel embroidery with relatively
thicker wool. Here the edges are not very sharp
but gives excellent rustic image. This embroidery
is usually done on handloom Dosooti fabric`.
